The First Step To SEO Success – CONTENT.

The first and most important thing for any web designer has to be Content.  The first thing you should always remember is the write your content for the reader, a website should never be built simply to please the search engines, and cramming you search keywords into a post over and over will not only put any visitors of returning to your site but can actually get you banned from googles index.

Of course you still want your keywords to be present in your post in order for Google to access its relevance. The ratio between amounts of time a keyword is found in your content and the number of words is called Keyword Density.

If your keyword is found only once on the page then you have a lower keyword density in comparison to a keyword appearing six or seven times on the same page or a page of a size.

I like to aim for a Keyword density of 8 – 10%. Going over this may be seen as spam and trying to fool Google anything under and Google may not see your site as relevant.  A keyword density tool is a great way to measure your keywords a good one is http://www.trafficzap.com/keydensity.php

Unique Content

Your pages should be written 100% by you and be original and unique. Yes its true that everything has been done and said before on the web these days but simply copying content from a webpage will not only be over looked by search engines but some people believe may actually get your site banned from Google.

That is not to say you can’t re publish others articles (with permission of course) but your main site should be made up of articles that are totally original.

Encourage readers to create links

By writing original and unique content your readers will want to share your site with their friends and associates. This way you build a natural flow of one-way links. It is a good idea to give the readers an easy way to share your page with a bookmarking button.

Content is King

One thing you will hear on your search for SEO success is the term “content is king”. Never forget that you are building your site for your readers not just for the search engines. Your content should be written to the best of your ability and not just a way to cram keywords in and trick each engines into giving you traffic.
